The painting, “The Healed Heart” was inspired by the PTSD & Trauma Treatment Research and Innovation Center in Sderot, Israel. We are able to look at the healing process in a playful manner. The painting asks to be perceived, glimpsed, looked at. It fills the room as with an aura of paradise. An angel, in peaceful repose between branches, draws the viewer in towards a place where
the heart resides. This is the place of healing. It is the longing for the possibility of being a carefree child once again. Holding the moment in one’s hands. The painting transports the viewer into a state of calm. The happiness of what hasn’t been said is part of its magic.
The angel’s face and hands are covered in craquelure, symbolizing the wounds suffered by the people and land of Israel. The broken pieces are reassembled into a whole in the figure of the angel, showing love for life and the process of healing. This also materializes on a visual level the basic idea of Kabbalah that the “vessels” of divine light are broken and are reassembled by humans.

The painting is beautiful, touching and it brings about feelings of happiness. It radiates harmony and peace, and these feelings stay with me for the whole day.”

The PTSD & Trauma Treatment Center in Sderot is an innovation center that provides emergency assistance to traumatized victims of terrorism. This Jewish National Fund project uses innovative therapeutic approaches to achieve a high level of healing success for children, young people and their families. The trauma treatment center is both a place of research for the development of trauma and crisis management and a place of healing and hope for those who have been emotionally wounded by years of terror and experienced unspeakable suffering as a result of the October 7 massacre. The national trauma of October 7 has broken hearts and shattered souls; but not the will of the individual to rise again and the hope to reclaim life. The angel of the heart embodies this moment of pause. To stop the story. His eyes are closed, his gaze turned inwards to this imaginary place where peace and healing are possible, where what has been broken is put back together again. Give a spark of light in the darkness by purchasing this painting across national borders.
